It reviewed reports from carriers like FedEx and UPS in recent investigations. The agency sent cease and desist orders to seven out-of-state businesses involved in illegal shipments. TABC Director Russell Thomas emphasized, “Wine is the only alcoholic beverage that can be legally shipped direct to consumers in Tennessee, and it requires a Winery Direct Shipper’s license issued by the commission.” Wineries should comply with licensing, tax payments, and volume restrictions to avoid severe penalties.
